Cost-effectiveness of using prebiotics to prevent atopic dermatitis

In order to determine how cost effective the use of prebiotics in infant formula is in preventing atopic dermatitis, a group of researchers from The Netherlands, France and Germany constructed a model using data including published literature, clinical trials, national population statistics and official price lists. They compared results with those who did not use prebiotics.

The results show that the use of prebiotic infant formulas is a highly cost-effective way of preventing atopic dermatitis.
